Ruth V. Nichols O’Connell, Ph.D.

Ruth is a Senior Research Associate. Having worked with organisms as small as fruit flies and as big as moose, Ruth has a unique background. She got her PhD in Sweden developing protocols for environmental DNA (eDNA) from deer. Her postdoctoral work at University of California Santa Cruz was also in eDNA protocol development. Ruth’s background allows her to draw on a diverse array of tools and literature to optimize single-cell technologies within the Adey Lab. Most recently Ruth leads the development and optimization of single-cell methylation assays (sciMET) within the lab, along with other projects.
